The Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has kept billions of individuals indoors to avoid the spread. Thanks to the proactive decisions taken by some world leaders to keep their citizens safe.  These are twelve (12) things you can do during the Coronavirus lockdown to keep you productive at home.

1. Always follow health rules.

World Health Organisation (WHO) in collaboration with your local health authorities have done their best through public education on how to avoid getting infected with the Coronavirus. Washing your hands with soap and water frequently and staying away from crowded places are the basics to avoid possible infection.

2. Check up on family and friends.

Use this opportunity of isolation to call, text, email, and WhatsApp your family and friends. Frequently checking up on them continuously, strengthens the family bond. A video call is the best during the Coronavirus pandemic.

3. Read books.

Definitely, every adult has about one or two books that they keep telling themselves they will read, but due to time constraints, they do not. The Coronavirus pandemic has created a lot of free time to read that book you always said you will read. For religious folks, the opportunity to study your Bible, Quran, etc is available to you. You can get books from Kindle books and helpful articles on the internet. I recommend my Mentor’s website to get some productive books and articles to read. Self-help books and popular books you have heard of will be a great read as well during this lockdown and isolation period.

4. Don’t hoard stuff.

It is understandable if you are getting everything in the supermarket to help others, especially when the need be. Do not hoard everything. Be empathetic. Get something moderate and leave some for other shoppers. Naturally, we are social beings and no matter the situation, sharing, love, and compassion will always win.

5. Eat well.

Being isolated poses a dangerous risk to all. Getting a healthy diet to maintain your weight is another challenge, especially, during the lockdown. Those underweight and overweight, need to gain a normal weight but with the issue of being isolated, you need to be intensional with what you eat and when to eat in order to help you manage your health and the quantity of your food. In addition, drink lots of water to keep your body hydrated always.

6. Exercise.

Being indoors 24/7 will definitely have a negative impact on your health. Therefore, exercising regularly will be of great benefit to you. Most gyms are closed due to the Coronavirus lockdown so you have to be creative. There are apps and youtube videos that can help you with some basic indoor aerobics to keep your health at peak performance.
Personally, I prefer skipping to jogging, so I do skip as my exercise every evening to help me have a goodnight’s sleep.

7. Always stay informed.

For the sake of authenticity, when it comes to information dissemination about the Coronavirus, just visit the World Health Organisation (WHO) website or your local health authority website for valid information. The media and so many people on social media are creating panic through false information. Be wise and seek information from the right source before sharing. Watch the video below for more information.

8. Your hobby.

So many people have multiple hobbies that have been dormant for years due to their career paths. Some of these hobbies can actually generate income, especially, those that require non-physical contact with people.
One thing your hobby does is to, put joy in your heart knowing that you have done something that you actually love. If you do not have a hobby, learn one.
There are millions of ‘how-to’ videos on youtube. Interestingly, that was how I learned about web development and blogging, all from scratch, and I am still learning new things daily. So look within yourself and put that desire and creativity to use.

If you want an online place to sell your service and hobby for a few bucks, I recommend Fiverr.com. Click here to start with Fiverr.Fiverr

For the work folks who spend so little time at home, the lockdown is actually an opportunity to go around your house and do some cleanup and repairs. For parents, this is the time to teach your kids good housekeeping and other basic works that can be done at home for safety and home improvement. Some things that can be done:- Getting rid of weeds and pests, changing damage bulbs, repairing damaged plugs and sockets, sweeping and cleaning, etc.

11. Entertainment.

Watching movies and jamming to your favourite music will keep you entertained and indoors most often, just to cut down on the boredom of being isolated. Plan your time well so that when the pandemic is over, it will not be that you spent all of your time watching movies, especially “Netflix n Chilling”. Use your time wisely.

  1. Long time supporter, and thought I’d drop a comment.

Your wordpress site is very sleek – hope you don’t mind me asking what theme you’re using?
(and don’t mind if I steal it? :P)

I just launched my site –also built in wordpress like yours–
but the theme slows (!) the site down quite a bit.

In case you have a minute, you can find it by
searching for “royal cbd” on Google (would appreciate
any feedback) – it’s still in the works.

Keep up the good work– and hope you all take care of yourself during the coronavirus scare!

    • Wow. Awesome and thanks for your support Justin.
